BUNNY CAKE POPS WITH BIG EARS AND BOW

BUNNY CAKE POPS WITH BIG EARS AND BOW

This adorable bunny design has been a favorite for years, and it’s easy to see why! It's a few steps but not complicated. The biggest part to this is making the ears first. After that it's all assembly. We made extra ears just in case there were any breakages or mess ups along the way. Ears can be made with fondant or chocolate. We opted for chocolate to get that a consistent look between the body and ears.

Chocolate Option: We used Colour Mill Oil in Hot Pink, Yellow, Mint, Sky Blue and Purple to color our chocolate. Simply fill a pastry bag (or use a small plastic bag with the tip snipped off for an easy, disposable alternative)

Fondant Option: If you choose fondant, it is a little more straight forward. You have two options. You can color the fondant before you place it in the mold for the bows (again use Colour Mill to color the fondant) or you can paint the bow using lustre dust + high-grade alcohol or Poppy Paint at the end and paint on top. If you are good at painting this could be an easy option if not you may want to color your fondant before hand. A better option if you are doing this with younger children.

If using chocolate, make the bow first, then when it’s slightly set, add the white chocolate for the ears layer. Tap the mold gently on your surface to release any air bubbles. Chill your bunny ears for a few minutes before removing them to make it easier to release and prevent breakage!

Once your bunny ears are ready, it’s time to dip your cake pop!

We used 2/3 of Merckens Melts + 1/3 Eleven O’ One. This combo gives a beautiful sheen and smooth finish.  It’s a little pricier, but totally worth it for ease of use and consistent results!

💡 Dipping Tip: Use a digital thermometer to read the temperature of your chocolate before you dip. We found our favorite temperature was around 98 degrees.

Dip your heart cake pop one dunk down, letting the excess drip from the point. Keep it upside down until the very end—this helps create a perfect front and back with minimal drip marks at the end. Tilt it slightly backward so the final drip lands at the top back, and you keep a perfect front. If needed, gently wipe the last drip along the side of the bowl for a smooth finish.

When your candy melts are almost set but still slightly soft, add the bunny ears!

STEP 3: ADD THE FACE

  • Nose: A tiny heart sprinkle

  • Cheeks: Two small white fondant balls

  • Whiskers: Use a toothpick or sharp tool to create fine lines

  • Eyes: We used Black Poppy Paint with White Poppy Paint for the highlight.

Tip: for perfect round eyes:

  • Create a small puddle of black paint.

  • Dip the end of a cake pop stick into the paint.

  • Lightly press onto your cake pop—instant round eyes!

  •  Pro Tip: Messed up the eyes? No worries! Just use a paper towel + alcohol to wipe off and try again.

  • Once dry, add tiny white highlight dots using a dotting tool (or the tip of a toothpick) for that extra cute sparkle! ✨

I finished these off with a soft pink bow. It just seemed to give the bunny that little bit of extra!

And there you have it—your adorable bunny cake pops are ready to steal hearts! 💕🐰
